Shane Flanagan is committed to leveraging his extensive coaching experience to revive St George Illawarra, firmly asserting that he is not ready to resign as the Dragons' coach.
Just five days after a demoralizing defeat to North Queensland, Flanagan appeared more resolute during a press briefing at the Dragons' facility on Thursday.
The seasoned coach emphasized that he had no intention of stepping down, despite the Dragons making history with a winless start to their season through the first five rounds.
In a detailed press conference, Flanagan defended his management decisions regarding the roster and addressed challenges stemming from Ben Hunt's impending departure in 2024.
Flanagan is acutely aware of the pressure to secure victories, especially after fans expressed their displeasure with boos directed at the team during their last home game in Kogarah.
He remarked that the last week had been tough, particularly with an important match against Manly on the horizon.
"It's been hard," Flanagan stated.
"You've got to look at yourself and make sure that you're doing that. Can you change anything? Does anything need to change?"
"Do you need to change? There's been a lot of self-reflection on that, but I'm here to do a job."
