Five Key Targets for the Sydney Roosters

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

The Sydney Roosters continue to surprise everyone with their performance.

Initially, the 2025 season was predicted to be a disaster for the club, especially after losing significant talent and enduring key injuries throughout half of the season. Many expected them to be contenders for the wooden spoon.

However, head coach Trent Robinson, despite facing criticism for his coaching style at times, managed to steer the team into the top eight, enabling them to compete in the finals.

Although they were eliminated by the Cronulla Sharks during the first week of the knockout rounds, the season was pivotal for the Roosters. It offered opportunities for several young players to establish themselves in the first-grade squad. With a well-balanced roster ahead, there are optimistic signs for the future of the tri-colours.

In recent years, the Roosters have typically delayed roster building but made a significant shift by securing 20 players for the 2027 season well in advance.

This proactive approach limits their flexibility for new additions, but there are still areas needing enhancement. A critical factor that could influence how they finalize the last ten spots on the roster for 2027 is the future of James Tedesco.
