Brad Fittler, the former NSW Blues coach, has given his support to Michael Maguire as the new coach for the State of Origin series.
Fittler, who recently stepped down from the role after six years, believes Maguire will be successful in the position.
Speaking at the Golden Boot ceremony, Fittler praised Maguire's past achievements as the coach of the New Zealand national team.
He also noted that Maguire has a strong reputation and an ability to bring the best out of his players, as seen during his time at South Sydney.
In addition, Fittler revealed that he has taken on a new role advising the NRL on rugby league participation and pathways.
With his expertise and experience, Fittler is set to contribute to the growth of the sport in Australia.
