Mark Nawaqanitawase, hailing from the land down under, has already got the Roosters faithful buzzing for what he'll bring to the NRL next year.
But there's one person he's still aiming to convert after making the switch from rugby sevens to rugby league.
In a move that even Peter Sterling would admire, Nawaqanitawase wasted no time in showcasing his talents, scoring a try just six minutes into his debut.
However, despite his impressive performance, he still has work to do in convincing his mum, who is keeping a close eye on her precious "baby" boy.
The former Wallaby, who traded the Stade de France for Wentworth Park before making his mark at Accor Stadium, wasn't expected to feature in first grade so soon after his stint at the Paris Olympics.
But with over 100 family members and mates cheering him on from the stands, he proved that he's destined for greatness after a solid pre-season.
Even with his mum rallying up the troops in support, Nawaqanitawase is aware that he still needs to win her over when it comes to the rough and tough world of NRL.
As he put it, "Mums are mums and I'm her baby, so she's just protective.
But I'm hoping my performance on the field will change her mind and show her that I belong in the NRL." With determination like that, Nawaqanitawase is well on his way to winning over not just his mum, but the entire league community.
