Kingston Finau, considered one of the most gifted players in his age group, has shared his aspirations of playing in the NRL for the Wests Tigers alongside his brother, Zephaniah. Their journey reflects a shared "dream" of achieving success at the highest level of rugby league.
The Wests Tigers have experienced a significant turnaround this season, moving off the bottom of the ladder thanks to the efforts of CEO Shane Richardson and head coach Benji Marshall. However, the club recognizes that its future success will depend on nurturing the next generation of players for a strong comeback to NRL Finals.
Players like Heath Mason, Heamasi Makasini, Jahream Bula, and Tony Sukkar have successfully made the leap from lower grades to the NRL. As this group strives for regular positions in the first-grade team, a new wave of young talent is emerging in the junior representative competitions within the club's pathways.
Among these newcomers are the Finau brothers, Kingston and Zephaniah. Both have had impressive seasons in rugby league and union, and they are set to participate in the upcoming Under-17s Harold Matthews Cup season with the Western Suburbs Magpies.
"It's a mad feeling representing the Tigers, but a lot of pressure when you run onto the field, too, but once you put that jersey on, it means a lot to us," Kingston expressed, highlighting the significance of their commitment to the club.
