The Fiji squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships has been announced, and it features some impressive rookie players.

Sunia Turuva and Jahream Bula, who were both finalists for the 2023 Dally M Rookie of the Year award, have been named in the squad.

Turuva, who went on to win the award, had a standout season and played a crucial role in his team's premiership win.

Bula, on the other hand, displayed immense potential and was recognized for his exceptional performances.

In addition to Turuva and Bula, the squad also includes several NRL players.

Maika Sivo and Waqa Blake from the Parramatta Eels have been selected, along with Mikaele Ravalawa and Taane Milne, who are experienced outside backs.

The team will be led by Tui Kamikamica, a forward from the Melbourne Storm, who takes over the captaincy from Kevin Naiqama.

The men's team will kick off their campaign on October 22, facing Cook Islands in Port Moresby.

They will then go on to play against hosts Papua New Guinea on October 29.

On the other hand, the women's team will have a sole fixture against Samoa on October 15.

Players such as Cassie Staples, Sereana Naitokatoka, and Talei Holmes are expected to make significant contributions to the women's team.

Overall, the Fiji squad for the Pacific Championships is filled with talented players, both experienced and rookie.
