Fiji select Lutu for historic World Cup

Star brothers headline Fiji extended team as nine Tigers named — World Cup squads

Fiji Bulikula's first Rugby League World Cup appearance will include Wests Tigers playmaker Losana Lutu.

The 22-year-old was selected for the 2026 tournament after featuring in nine of Wests Tigers' 12 NRLW games.

She scored two tries, provided three try assists and made 19 tackle breaks as the club reached the finals for the first time.

Lutu joined Wests Tigers before their inaugural NRLW season in 2023 and has made 26 appearances for the club.

She represented Fiji in the 2024 Pacific Championships, playing at number seven against the Cook Islands and Samoa.

Wests Tigers NRLW head coach Craig Sandercock said her selection was deserved.

"Losana had a great season for us. She's been an invaluable part of the halves and has really improved her game," Sandercock said.

"She's worked hard, taken on responsibility, and stepped up where needed. She fully deserves the opportunity to represent Fiji. I'm really proud of her."

Fiji begin their World Cup campaign against the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Sunday 18 October. Kick-off is at 1.50pm.
