Jojo Fifita's value to the Gold Coast Titans is rising ahead of Phillip Sami's departure to St George Illawarra in 2027.
News Corp reports the 23-year-old winger will sign a two-year extension, keeping him at Parkwood until the end of 2029.
His existing contract runs through 2027, despite earlier suggestions he could pursue rugby union afterwards.
"[Going back to union] is definitely there in the back of my mind - probably not right now, but maybe in the near future," Fifita told Wide World of Sports from Queensland camp.
Fifita has made 78 NRL appearances and produced a career-best season, earning selection in the Kangaroos' 40-man World Cup squad.
His final Australian selection remains uncertain, while Tonga has also named him.
The Dunedin-born player has yet to represent a country in international rugby league.
However, he has played for the Prime Minister's XIII and Maori All Stars, and Billy Slater selected him for Queensland during this year's State of Origin series.
AJ Brimson is reportedly seeking an exit, increasing Fifita's importance to the Titans' outside backs.
The club is also negotiating with breakout half Zane Harrison, who wants as much as $900,000 annually in his next contract.
