Centre Abigail Roache scored a hat-trick of tries, leading the Kiwi Ferns to a 28-10 victory over Tonga in a rugby league match.
The game took a turn when Tonga's interchange forward Ilaisaane Taufa was sent off for a hip-drop style tackle, resulting in Kiwi Ferns forward Amelia Pasikala leaving the field with a suspected broken leg.
Despite being down to 12 players, Tonga put up a strong fight, trailing by just four points at halftime.
However, the Kiwi Ferns capitalized on Tonga's mistakes and penalties, running in three more tries to secure a comfortable win.
In the opening 11 minutes, Roache scored two tries, setting the stage for a dominant performance by the home side.
However, Tonga showed improvement compared to previous matches and will take heart from their performance.
One crucial error by Shanice Parker, who failed to clear a loose ball, allowed Tiana Penitani to score a try and narrow the gap to four points at halftime.
