Farnworth Secures Contract Extension with Dolphins

Dolphins star Herbie Farnworth has confirmed his commitment to the club after signing a one-year contract extension, ensuring his presence until at least the end of 2027.

Initially, Farnworth was set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2026 season, allowing him to negotiate with other teams, including the new NRL side, the Perth Bears, starting November 1. However, this new agreement secures his tenure with the Dolphins for at least the next two years, postponing any discussions with rival teams until November 1 next year. Although plans for a long-term extension may have been sidelined for the time being, Farnworth is focused on his immediate future with the Dolphins.

This contract also coincides with the beginning of the NRL's next television deal, which presents Farnworth an opportunity for a significant salary increase when that happens, contingent upon the negotiations surrounding the upcoming deal.

As he prepares to fly to England for the Ashes, where he will represent England, Farnworth expressed that extending his contract with the Dolphins was a straightforward choice for him. "This was an easy decision for me as I did not see myself going anywhere else," he stated. He added, "When I look at the roster the club has built for the Dolphins, I am so excited about what this team can achieve in the next couple of seasons."
