In a remarkable NRL qualifying final, Herbie Farnworth showcased his talent as he led the Dolphins to a thrilling 26-16 victory against the Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium.
Farnworth electrified the sell-out crowd, scoring a crucial try after deftly weaving through defenders. He also assisted in a 90-meter move with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, pushing the Dolphins ahead when they trailed 16-8.
His performance was remarkable, boasting statistics that included 274 running meters, two try assists, and eleven tackle busts. This display underscored his status as one of the league's elite performers.
Following the match, Farnworth expressed confidence about the Dolphins' prospects for the premiership, stating, "We definitely can. One hundred per cent we can," when asked about their potential.
Eager to progress, he added, "It is massive for us to be in a prelim. This is my second time in finals… Hopefully we can push on into the grand final and win it." His previous experience in the 2023 grand final with Brisbane, where they lost to Penrith, fuels his ambition.
The Dolphins will now host a preliminary final at Suncorp Stadium. Farnworth's determination was evident as he emerged as a leader in a difficult moment when the team faced an eight-point deficit with just 20 minutes remaining.
