"He's a must-have player," declared the footy world as they insist that Latrell Mitchell is the truth that NSW cannot ignore.

Despite missing out on selection for the Blues in State of Origin game one, fans have been buzzing about his chances for game two.

According to news.com.au, Mitchell has thrown his hat into the ring for State of Origin duty with a stellar performance in a 46-12 demolition of the Gold Coast Titans, leading South Sydney to finally climb off the bottom of the NRL ladder.

Mitchell's form may have been up and down this season as the Rabbitohs struggled, but he is being hailed as the man who can bring a touch of X-factor to the Blues in the second State of Origin clash.

After the Blues suffered a brutal 38-10 loss to Queensland, talk immediately turned to the changes that needed to be made.

Many believe that coach Michael Maguire must bring Mitchell back into the centres.

Mitchell himself fueled speculation with a cryptic post after Origin, hinting that he was watching the match at home and ready for action.

It seems like the stage is set for Mitchell to make a triumphant return to the Blues squad and shake things up on the field.
