Despite losses in both grades, the Panthers showed promise in their trial matches on Saturday.

The Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup teams faced tough competition, but the players put up a good fight.

The Panthers' NSW cup side unfortunately suffered a 22-12 loss against the North Sydney Bears at St Mary's.

Despite the final score, some of the fringe first graders showcased their skills and gave Panthers fans a glimpse of the team's future stars.

The game got off to a shaky start for the Panthers, with the Bears creating an opportunity down the right touchline, but failing to convert.

Penalties and ill-discipline proved costly for Penrith early on, with the Bears taking advantage of high tackles.

Nathaniel Roache capitalized on the Panthers' defensive lapse, setting up Allan Fitzgibbon for the opening points.

The Bears continued to dominate, with Kieran Hayman's attacking kick leading to a try by Ben Stevanovic and extending their lead.
