Ezra Mam: Ready to Bounce Back?

Ezra Mam's return to NRL on track as Brisbane Broncos star escapes fresh suspension

Ezra Mam's return to the NRL with the Brisbane Broncos was initially uncertain after he was put on report for a high shot during his comeback game for Souths-Logan.

However, he was not charged and is expected to play this weekend.

Reports indicate that Mam shone for the Magpies in their 66-10 victory over the Western Clydesdales in the Queensland Cup, showing his readiness after a nine-game suspension stemming from an off-season drug-driving incident in October.

In his brief time on the field, he scored one try and assisted three others before being substituted in the 47th minute.

His first tackle, which led to the report for a high tackle on Clydesdales prop Lachlan Mears-Crabbe, raised concerns initially, although the exact contact was unclear in fan footage.

The match review committee deliberated on the incident and ultimately decided against charging him.

Souths-Logan assistant coach Justin Hodges expressed confidence in Mam's situation, stating, "It was a good shot.

We don't see enough of that.

He didn't hit him high.

We were blowing up about that.

He will be fine."

With Ben Hunt out for up to six weeks due to a hamstring injury, Mam is likely to slot into the NRL lineup for Sunday's game against the Dragons.

Given Hunt's absence, Mam appears to be the ideal replacement, particularly after regaining competitive experience in his recent match for Souths-Logan.
