Ex-Dragon dives into new league: Widdop's premier switch

Former NRL star Gareth Widdop, known for his skills on the field with the Melbourne Storm and St George Illawarra Dragons, has announced a bold move to the rugby union world.

After a brief retirement stint, Widdop has joined the ranks of Huddersfield Rugby Union Football Club, diving headfirst into the National League 2 and Yorkshire Cup competitions.

With a premiership win under his belt from his time with the Melbourne Storm in 2012, Widdop's experience and leadership are sure to make an impact on his new team.

His ten seasons in the NRL saw him notch up 195 first-grade appearances, scoring over 1000 career points with his impressive kicking and attacking game.

In addition to his domestic success, Widdop has donned the England national team jersey 29 times, showcasing his talent on the international stage.

His versatile skills have also taken him to clubs like Warrington Wolves, Castleford Tigers, and Halifax, where he made a memorable impact on the field.
