Former Wests Tigers co-captain Chris Lawrence has criticized the internal politics and self-interest affecting the club in light of its latest boardroom crisis.
Lawrence, a Tigers legend with 253 games over 15 years, expressed his discontent on LinkedIn following the removal of chairman Barry O'Farrell and three independent board members by major shareholder Holman Barnes Group, leading to more instability.
"Sad to see the Wests Tigers in the headlines again!" Lawrence wrote.
He found the ongoing conflicts within the organization "disappointing," attributing them to hidden agendas and self-serving motivations that have hindered the club's progress.
"These dynamics have consistently caused disruption at a club that desperately needs stability, alignment, consistency and a clear direction," Lawrence stated.
He emphasized that while the Tigers possess significant potential, progress is impossible without unity at the leadership level.
This power struggle occurs just months after the club experienced its best season in years, finishing 13th after enduring three successive last-place finishes.
