England warm up for Wheelchair Ashes with back-to-back wins

England's reigning world champion wheelchair rugby team has geared up for their upcoming two-Test Ashes series against the Wheelaroos, achieving consecutive victories over New South Wales and Queensland.

The 2022 World Cup champions will face Australia in the first Test of the Wheelchair Ashes series this Thursday at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, with the second Test scheduled for Sunday at the same location.

These two Tests will precede the LCA NRL Wheelchair Championships, starting on Friday on the Gold Coast, where seven teams, including representatives from New Zealand and an Affiliate States team, will compete for the prestigious Joseph Chidiac Cup.

The Wheelaroos, competing at home for the first time since England's last visit in 2019, are using this series as preparation for their RLWC26 campaign set to take place in Australia next October and November.

After a resounding 86-10 victory over NSW at the Whitlam Sports Centre in Liverpool last Friday, England's coach Tom Coyd expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome the team has received in Australia, including support from the Penrith Panthers.
