Elijah Taylor, a retired New Zealand international rugby league player, has made the decision to return to the field by signing with the Campbelltown City Kangaroos for the 2026 season.

After retiring in 2025, Taylor will now join the local rugby league team that competes in the Wests Group Macarthur first-grade competition.

The 35-year-old, who played for the New Zealand Kiwis in 11 international matches from 2011 to 2017, follows in the footsteps of recent players like Ava Seumanufagai, Junior Moors, Ray Cashmere, Russ Aitken, and Shannon Gallant in wearing the Blue and Gold jersey.

Originally from Taranaki, New Zealand, Taylor's professional career in the NRL spans 186 matches with three clubs: the New Zealand Warriors from 2011 to 2013, the Penrith Panthers from 2014 to 2016, and the Wests Tigers between 2016 and 2020. During his time with the Tigers, he served as co-captain and was honored as the club's Player of the Year.

"Elijah will be living locally and is excited to give back to the rugby league community," a club statement revealed.

Additionally, the statement noted, "In recent years he has passionately shared guidance with the next generation through his FootyHacks Instagram account, offering young players opportunities to learn from his experiences."

Looking ahead, Taylor expressed enthusiasm about "driving standards within the first-grade squad next season" while also taking on the role of Assistant Coach for the Under 18s, contributing to the development of young talent.
