The Parramatta Eels fought valiantly but ultimately suffered a heart-wrenching defeat at home, as they fell short in a 28-18 battle against the Sydney Roosters at CommBank Stadium on Saturday.
Trailing 16-0 in the first half, the Eels staged a remarkable comeback to take the lead at 18-16 early in the second half.
Mitchell Moses ignited the Eels' revival with a brilliant play off Reagan Campbell-Gillard's impressive break, leading to a sensational solo try by Dylan Brown and a team effort finished off by Blaize Talagi to level the score.
Moses then secured the lead with a crucial penalty goal.
However, despite their gallant efforts, the Eels ran out of steam in the final 15 minutes as the Roosters managed to score two late tries to secure the victory.
The Eels now have a bye week before they face the Newcastle Knights in Round 17, where they will look to bounce back from this defeat.
The early sin-binning of Kelma Tuilagi for a dangerous tackle put the Eels on the back foot from the start, forcing them to play catch-up throughout the game.
The Eels will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next outing, drawing inspiration from their fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude on the field.
