Parramatta Eels head coach Jason Ryles is poised to make a surprising decision by recalling Dylan Brown for this weekend's match, but in an unexpected position: the centres.
Brown, who has signed a lucrative multi-million dollar deal with the Newcastle Knights that will commence at the season's end, is unlikely to return to the halves for Parramatta moving forward.
Although he had the opportunity to leave the club before June 30, Brown chose to stay with the Eels.
With the team out of the finals race, Ryles is shifting his focus to next season. In recent matches, players Joash Papalii and Dean Hawkins have filled the five-eighth role since Brown's drop from the lineup.
Brown did have a brief stint outside of the halves, playing one game where he alternated between lock and hooker, but his return from suspension for Ryley Smith led to his exclusion from the team.
However, according to a report from The Sydney Morning Herald, Brown is set to make a comeback this Sunday, likely taking his place in the centres for the match against the North Queensland Cowboys.
