The Parramatta Eels faced a significant gap in their backline following Zac Lomax's departure in the offseason. In response, the club has acted quickly to bolster their roster.

On Monday, the Eels announced the signing of seasoned outside back Brian Kelly on a two-year contract, ensuring he will be with the team until the conclusion of the 2027 NRL season.

Kelly is joining Parramatta after receiving an early release from his final year with the Gold Coast Titans, bringing with him a wealth of experience, having played 190 top-tier games.

At 29, Kelly is seen as a crucial addition to the Eels' squad, helping to fortify their outside backs as they head into the 2026 season. His versatility allows him to play across several positions in the backline.

Mark O'Neill, the General Manager of Football for the Eels, highlighted that Kelly's experience and offensive skills were key factors in their decision to act promptly.

"We had an opportunity to strengthen the outside backs, which was a positional area of need, and Brian certainly fits that need very well for us," O'Neill said in a club statement.

"Jason and the coaching staff are looking forward to working with Brian, who adds a greater attacking dimension to the game."
