The Parramatta Eels have nearly confirmed that State of Origin outside back Zac Lomax will be joining Rugby 360, following the club's decision to release him from the remainder of his contract.

Lomax has been prominently associated with a controversial rugby union competition that is offering lucrative deals exceeding $2 million annually to players. This amount is significantly higher than what the NRL can provide under the existing salary cap regulations. Among those involved in discussions with the Saudi Arabian-backed league is Payne Haas, a notable player from the Brisbane Broncos, NSW Blues, and Samoa.

The Eels announced that they have granted Lomax the opportunity to explore avenues outside of the NRL. "The Parramatta Eels can confirm that Zac Lomax has been granted an immediate release from his playing contract to pursue opportunities outside the NRL," the team stated.

The club expressed gratitude for Lomax's contributions during his tenure with the Eels in 2025, stating, "The Club would like to thank Zac for his contribution during his time with the Eels in 2025 and we wish him all the best for the future."

Before joining the Eels, Lomax was a significant signing after being released by the St George Illawarra Dragons at the conclusion of 2024.
