Eels' Players Face Lengthy Injury Layoffs

The Parramatta Eels have confirmed the injury status of key players Isaiah Iongi and Matt Doorey following their Round 4 match against the Panthers.

Iongi, the talented fullback, may be sidelined for as long as two months due to a serious ankle injury sustained during the game.

He is scheduled for scans on Monday to diagnose a suspected syndesmosis injury, which will help clarify his recovery timeline.

In a recent medical update, the Eels stated that Iongi will be out for a minimum of eight weeks, while Doorey's season has concluded due to an ACL injury.

"The Parramatta Eels can provide an injury update following Saturday's match against the Panthers," the club announced.

"Scans have today confirmed that Matt Doorey suffered an ACL tear during Saturday's match, which will require surgery once the swelling in his knee subsides. An injury of this nature will involve 9 to 12 months recovery time."

"Isaiah Iongi has suffered a syndesmosis injury to his ankle. It will require surgery which will take place this week and will require a minimum of 8 weeks on the sidelines to recover."

The Eels are gearing up for their traditional Easter Monday NRL clash against the Wests Tigers, but they will be missing several key players.

In addition to Iongi and Doorey, J'maine Hopgood's season has also ended due to an ACL injury.

The injury list continues to grow, with Jordan Samrani out with a meniscus issue and centre Will Penisini unavailable due to a groin injury.
