The Parramatta Eels have officially announced the season-ending injuries for J'maine Hopgood and Jordan Samrani.
Hopgood suffered an ACL injury due to a hip drop tackle from Ryan Couchman of the Dragons during Sunday's match at CommBank Stadium.
The club stated that he will have surgery once the swelling reduces, anticipating a recovery period of nine to twelve months. This puts him on a tight timeline to be fit for the beginning of the 2026 NRL season.
This setback is a significant loss for the Eels, but it opens the door for Jack de Belin to rejoin the first-grade team after being previously benched and excluded from the 19-man squad by head coach Jason Ryles.
Initially named at prop, Hopgood started the game from the bench. As a result of his injury, Jack Williams is expected to stay at prop, while Dylan Walker will continue his starting role.
Meanwhile, Samrani was forced off the field midway through the game due to a knee injury.
The Eels have confirmed that he will need surgery for meniscus damage. Although the full extent of his injury is still unknown, he is set to be sidelined for at least six weeks, with the possibility of a longer recovery.
Brian Kelly is the most likely candidate to step into Samrani's position in the centers, though Will Penisini is expected to return in a couple of weeks.
