The Parramatta Eels have confirmed the re-signing of Joash Papalii through to the end of 2027.
According to zerotackle.com, the versatile player, who can operate as a fullback, outside back, and half, joined the Eels from the Canterbury Bulldogs ahead of the 2025 season with the expectation of competing for a first-grade spot immediately.
Although it took time for him to break into the senior squad, he made his debut in Round 12 after being the 18th man on seven occasions and has since played five games.
Notably, one of his appearances was at five-eighth during a Round 16 victory over the Gold Coast Titans, a position he is projected to fill next year following Dylan Brown's departure to the Newcastle Knights.
While Papalii will need to stay patient this season, his contract extension allows coach Jason Ryles to focus on developing him as part of the team's plan in the halves for the next two years.
This move aligns with Parramatta's ongoing rebuilding efforts and their aim to climb the NRL ranks.
