Eels set membership record as Ryles' style excites fans
The Eels are gearing up for one of their largest home crowds of the season against Newcastle this Sunday, as fans fully embrace the exciting playing style introduced by Jason Ryles.
Even though they have missed the finals for the third year in a row, Parramatta has achieved a remarkable milestone this season, attracting a record 37,000 members in 2025. Supporters are rallying behind the significant changes made under Ryles' leadership in his inaugural season.
Initially, the young Eels faced challenges, losing their first four matches by considerable margins. However, they have rebounded well, winning four of their last six games against strong teams such as the Broncos, Roosters, Cowboys, and Warriors, with narrow losses only to the Storm and Rabbitohs.
Upon taking the role, Ryles made tough decisions, parting ways with several senior players, including captain Clint Gutherson and former Kangaroos prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard.
In addition, he's handling the challenge of losing Kiwis playmaker Dylan Brown to Newcastle next season. However, Ryles has remained committed to his vision for the Eels, which is beginning to show promising results. Young talents like Isaiah Iongi and Joash Papalii are emerging as potential stars for the future.
