Eels' 2026 Selection Challenges and Changes

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The Parramatta Eels are currently undergoing a significant rebuild, aiming to return to the top eight by 2026 under the leadership of Jason Ryles.

Although the Eels' position in the 2025 ladder may not reflect it, they were closer to success than it appears, largely because of Mitchell Moses' long injury absence.

Moses is arguably the most crucial player for any team in the competition. If he can maintain his fitness, along with a few new signings joining the blue and gold, the Eels have a genuine opportunity to improve their standing in 2026.

However, selection dilemmas persist for the Eels, particularly concerning their outside backs and forward pack. Ryles has already built a reputation for being unafraid to make necessary changes.

The current squad looks quite different compared to the beginning of 2025, as several players have been excluded from Ryles' vision for the team.

As the Eels gear up for 2026, here are the critical questions they face.
