Eels half secures monster new contract

One half of Parramatta's contract dilemma has been resolved, with skipper Mitchell Moses agreeing to a new five-year deal that will likely see him donning the blue and gold jersey for the long haul.

Moses had put pen to paper on a colossal extension back in 2023 to keep him at the club until 2026 with a player option for a further two seasons, but this fresh deal wipes the slate clean and ensures one of the top halfbacks in the game is firmly locked in for an extra year.

This development provides a major boost for the Eels, who are currently battling to retain five-eighth Dylan Brown.

Brown has been presented with unprecedented offers to switch allegiance to a rival club, should he opt to forego his player option and stay with Parramatta.

Moses made the move to the Eels midway through the 2017 season following his departure from the Wests Tigers, with the dynamic playmaker showcasing his skills for the Blues and Kangaroos last season despite being hampered by injuries, which limited his club appearances to just eight.

This new deal also serves as a ringing endorsement for rookie coach Jason Ryles, who played a pivotal role in persuading Moses that the future holds promise.

"Mitch has consistently been in fine form for many years, but none better than in 2024.

His performance in State of Origin last year was exceptional and confirmed his place among the elite," remarked Eels general manager of football Mark O'Neill.
