Manly Warringah Sea Eagles celebrated a significant week for their loyal players Daly Cherry-Evans and Lachlan Croker by securing a hard-fought 24-18 victory against the St George-Illawarra Dragons.
This round 22 clash marked Cherry-Evans' remarkable 300th NRL game as the club's captain and half-back, making him only the second player in Manly's history to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of the legendary Cliff Lyons.
Furthermore, Cherry-Evans became the first player to reach 300 games while playing in the same position.
His achievement also places him among the exclusive group of 49 players in the sport's history to reach this milestone.
On the other hand, Croker, a respected hooker, celebrated his 100th NRL game, a testament to his determination and resilience considering he has overcome three knee reconstructions in his six seasons at Manly.
The Sea Eagles' triumph was particularly noteworthy as it ended their dismal record in Wollongong, where they had not emerged victorious at WIN Stadium since 2003.
Prior to kick-off, they had suffered defeat in 10 out of 11 encounters against the Dragons at this venue.
Additionally, the Dragons had previously won seven out of their last 10 matches against the Sea Eagles, making Manly's triumph even more commendable.
