"He really caught my eye in that team": Luke Brooks showers praise on Lachlan Galvin as former and current Tigers halves prepare to join forces for PM's XIII.
Both Luke Brooks and Lachlan Galvin were hailed as rising stars early on in their careers at the Wests Tigers, and now they are set to team up in Port Moresby.
According to news.com.au, Luke Brooks only got to know Lachlan Galvin properly last Wednesday, but he is eagerly looking forward to playing alongside the talented Wests Tigers newcomer for the Prime Minister's XIII against Papua New Guinea this weekend.
The upcoming clash on Sunday in Port Moresby will mark Brooks' return to representative football since his appearance for the NRL All Stars nine years ago.
As for Galvin, this match is another milestone in his burgeoning career, despite a brief suspension earlier in the season which cost him the chance to potentially win the Dally M Rookie of the Year award.
While the Wests Tigers had a tough season with little to celebrate, Galvin's meteoric rise has provided a spark of optimism for the future.
The 19-year-old has been instrumental in setting up 17 tries in his 21 appearances and taking charge of his team's offensive strategies.
Having captained the Australian Schoolboys side and scored a try in a close victory over the Junior Kumuls last year, Galvin is now poised to showcase his talents against PNG.
It is somewhat poetic that he and Brooks will pair up in the halves, especially considering the seasoned player's 11-year tenure at the Tigers where he faced immense expectations after just one standout game and the daunting challenge of ending the team's playoff drought.
"Playing alongside Lachie, I don't really know him that well.
We didn't cross paths during my time at the Tigers, but we did meet each other last Wednesday," Brooks shared.
