Dunn Steps Up: From Player to Coach

Dunn joins coaching ranks

LeagueNews.co | Robbie Hamilton

Mitch Dunn, a former player for the North Queensland Cowboys, has transitioned into a new role as a Game Development Coach.

In this position, he will be responsible for working with junior rugby league coaches in North Queensland to teach them the coaching practices used by the Cowboys.

Dunn will report to Cowboys Head of NRL Elite Pathways Glenn Hall and collaborate closely with Elite Pathways Coach Steve Sheppard and the Cowboys Young Guns squad and Academies programs during the pre-season.

This move allows Dunn to gain experience in every aspect of the Cowboys football pathways.

Raised in Mackay, Dunn progressed through the Cowboys Academy program before becoming captain of the NYC program in 2017.

Despite making his NRL debut in 2018 and playing 58 games over six seasons, ongoing injury issues forced Dunn to retire at the end of the 2023 season.
