St George Illawarra Dragons forward Jacob Halangahu has secured a spot among the six standout young forwards in the NRL committed to the club.
This week, the Dragons officially announced the re-signing of Loko Pasifiki Tonga, following the extension of the Couchman brothers - Toby and Ryan - over the weekend.
Earlier this year, Hamish Stewart and Dylan Egan also committed to the club long-term.
This development means that the six players responsible for steering the Dragons' forward pack into the future-considered some of the most promising talents in the sport-will remain with the Dragons for the foreseeable future.
The Dragons confirmed that Halangahu, whose contract was initially set to expire at the end of 2027, has decided to stay with the team until the conclusion of the 2029 season.
"Jacob is mature beyond his years and is determined to make his mark in the game," Young said.
"He's a tough, hard-running forward who can break tackles, and his versatility allows him to play both in the back row and through the middle."
"Having another homegrown product re-sign with the club is a huge positive and a testament to the strength of the pathways. We're excited to see Jacob continue his development in the colours."
At just 19 years old, Halangahu is the youngest among the forwards but is widely regarded as possessing the greatest potential for growth.
