The Dragons triumphed over the Wests Tigers with a score of three tries to one in an NRLW trial match held at Leichhardt Oval.

This marked the team's first performance under new head coach Nathan Cross, showcasing the capabilities of their revamped squad.

Despite missing NSW Under 19s players Kasey Reh and Indie Bostock, as well as Sara Sautia (foot injury), the Dragons exhibited strong defensive skills and moments of impressive attacking play throughout the 70-minute match.

Key defensive plays included an early try-saver by Berry on Wests Tigers winger Claudia Nielsen, and a significant contribution from Southwell, who executed a critical tackle that forced an error when defending her try-line.

Southwell continued her impressive performance with a similar tackle shortly after, thwarting another Wests Tigers attack.

The Dragons' defense was highlighted as a cornerstone of their performance, leading to a promising start for the new season.
