Jersey Flegg Cup: Dragons taken down in derby

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The Dragons have been defeated by the Sharks in a fiery Jersey Flegg derby clash at Collegians on Saturday, with a final scoreline of 54-10.

Despite a valiant effort from the Dragons defence, the Sharks were able to capitalize on a fifth-tackle penalty to score early in the match.

However, the Dragons fought back, with Michael Gabrael making a break from centre-field to score a crucial try.

The hosts showed their fighting spirit with Jesse Williams crossing the try line after a brilliant pass from David Afu.

Shadi Hammoud, making his Jersey Flegg debut, successfully converted the try from a tough angle, narrowing the scoreline.

Hammoud's debut marks him as the 10th player from the Dragons' SG Ball premiership-winning team to make the jump to Jersey Flegg this season.

Despite the loss, the Dragons will be looking to bounce back in their next match with renewed determination and grit.
