The Dragons have introduced their 2025 Indigenous Jersey, celebrating the Dharawal community and its cultural heritage.
The design, crafted by Kane Wright, a proud Dharug man, embodies the rich traditions linked to the Dharawal calendar, the wisdom of Elders, and the relationship between people, animals, and nature.
The jersey will be worn by the NRL and NRLW squads during their local derby against the Sharks on August 9th at Jubilee Stadium, symbolizing unity and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the land on which they play.
Central to the jersey's design are six meeting places, each corresponding to a Dharawal season: Burruan (hot and dry), Marrai'gang (wet becoming cool), Burrugin (cold and frost), Wiritjiribin (cold and windy), Ngoonungi (cool becoming warm), and Parra'dowee (warm and wet).
Each place features an animal representing the spirit of that season, fostering a strong connection to Mother Earth and Father Sky.
The design honors both genders, with three meeting places reflecting the power of women as gatherers, nurturers, educators, and leaders, while the other three recognize men as hunters, protectors, and storytellers.
