Dragons Lower Grades Wrap: Round 5

The Dragons Lower Grades had a rollercoaster of a game in Round 5 of the 2024 Knock-On Effect NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup seasons.

The hosts got off to a flying start, leaving the Dragons trailing by 16-0 just 27 minutes in - but as they say in the game, it's never over until the final whistle blows.

Alec Tuitavake, playing like a man possessed, bulldozed through the Knights defence to score his second try in as many weeks, giving the visitors a spark of hope.

The Dragons rallied behind Tuitavake's inspiring play, with the prop setting up Haele Finau for a crucial try right before halftime to narrow the gap to just four points.

With the wind in their sails, the Dragons dominated the second half, with Finau muscling his way over for his second try from dummy-half to take the lead for the first time in the game.

But the Knights weren't ready to throw in the towel, as fullback Fletcher Sharpe made a clever play to snatch back the lead.

In the end, it was a hard-fought battle that could have gone either way.

The Dragons showed their fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude, proving that in Rugby League, anything can happen on any given day.

The team will take this game as a learning experience and come back stronger in the next round.
