In a disappointing final match of the season, the Dragons were unable to secure a victory against the Newcastle Knights, falling 32-12 at the Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday night.
The Dragons' only try in the first half came from Ben Hunt, who executed a flawless chip kick that was regathered by Zac Lomax, but unfortunately, Lomax fell just short of scoring on multiple occasions.
In the second half, Mikaele Ravalawa scored a try, making him only the third player in St George Illawarra history to score 21 tries in a single season, joining the ranks of Nathan Blacklock and Brett Morris.
The Dragons faced a setback when they lost their captain's challenge 15 minutes into the game, with video officials ruling that Dan Russell had lost the ball without any assistance from tacklers, despite Russell's appeal.
Hunt managed to get the Dragons on the scoreboard just before the end of the first quarter with an impressive chip and chase, where he scooped up the ball after a fortunate bounce and improved the position by scoring behind the sticks.
Despite a strong defensive effort, the Dragons committed an error, allowing the Knights to launch an attack, but Billy Burns intercepted a midfield pass, thwarting the Knights' raid.
