"I've just got to battle on": Flanagan fronts up as Dragons crisis deepens
The St George Illawarra Dragons are under increasing pressure, with coach Shane Flanagan reaffirming his commitment to the club amid a challenging season.
Currently, the Dragons are struggling without a victory, having lost nine matches in a row dating back to last season. This marks the longest losing streak in the club's history, leaving them at the bottom of the standings with a disappointing 68 points scored and 145 points conceded over their first five games.
Frustration among fans is escalating, particularly after a disheartening 32-0 loss at home to the North Queensland Cowboys, where the team failed to score any points.
Flanagan acknowledges that this is a difficult situation for him, but he remains resolute in his desire to move forward.
"I've never been through this experience, but I've just got to battle on," Flanagan stated on Thursday.
"All I can do is my best, and that's what I'm doing at the moment. I turn up to work every day, prepare the team the best I can and look after the staff as best I can. That's all I can do."
"I'm not worried about my future. I've got more important things to worry about at this stage of my career."
"I've got to worry about the club, and I value the stability, the team and the whole organisation, rather than myself."
"I've just got to do my best. I'm not worried about me. If I do my job and we get through it, then that's great. If we don't, I can walk away and say I did my best."
