Dragons Extend Contract for Injured Hooker

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The St George Illawarra Dragons have opted to keep a promising talent on board, even though their young hooker is sidelined for most of the upcoming season due to a serious leg injury sustained in the last game of 2025.

Connor Muhleisen, who suffered an ACL tear during the 2025 NSW Cup reserve-grade Grand Final against the New Zealand Warriors, has secured a one-year extension with the Dragons. This agreement ensures that the Thirroul Butchers junior will remain with the club for another season.

At just 24 years old, Muhleisen is a homegrown player who made his debut in 2023 and has played 11 matches for the team. As he focuses on his recovery, he will benefit from the experience and mentorship of seasoned players like Damien Cook and Jacob Liddle.

Although he is early in his career, the Dragons' decision to extend his contract signifies their faith in his potential, despite the fact that he will spend a significant portion of 2026 on the injured list.
