Ben Hunt's comments about his future with the Dragons have caused a stir in the NRL, and according to reports, the situation could become "really messy." Despite declaring that he will stay with the Dragons next year, Hunt's admission of regret about signing a long-term contract has fueled rumors of a potential move to the Gold Coast.

In a surprising twist, Hunt also revealed that he offered to give up his captaincy, but remains in the role.

The 33-year-old has been a part of the St George Illawarra club since 2018, signing a new deal in 2022.

However, in June, Hunt's manager requested an immediate release, citing the club's decision to sack coach Anthony Griffin as the reason for his desire to return to Queensland.
