Shane Flanagan has addressed Tyrell Sloan's omission from the Dragons' lineup ahead of their game against the Dolphins, suggesting a potential return for the winger in the future.
Flanagan has replaced Sloan with Christian Tuipulotu, who is returning from a hamstring injury after initially sitting out last week as a precaution.
"It's not just Tyrell...
we've got competition for spots," Flanagan stated, emphasizing that the decision concerns both Tuipulotu's fitness and the overall team dynamics.
Nathan Lawson, a debutant who performed well during the recent win over the Knights, has also retained his spot, indicating that competition within the team is intense.
Flanagan noted, "Everyone's held accountable and you've got to perform well.
Tyrell's no different," reinforcing the idea that selection is based on merit.
This marks the second time Sloan has been dropped, following his loss of the fullback position to Clint Gutherson.
With the Dragons' NSW Cup team on a bye this weekend, Sloan won't have a chance to showcase his skills in reserve grade.
However, Flanagan remains confident in Sloan's potential, believing he possesses the talent and attitude necessary to earn a first-grade spot again soon.
The coaching staff's decisions reflect a commitment to fostering a competitive and winning environment within the team.
