Dragons breathe fire with new Cup playmaker signing

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

In a move aimed at bolstering their playmaking options, the St George Illawarra Dragons have made a shrewd signing by securing the services of Jesse Marschke, regarded as one of the most skillful five-eighths in the NSW Cup.

After failed attempts to secure the high-profile signings of Tom Dearden and Jarome Luai, as well as the unfortunate release of the injured Ronald Volkman, the Dragons have turned to Marschke to fill the void.

The 26-year-old playmaker enjoyed a stellar season with the North Sydney Bears, leading them to the Grand Final and earning himself a spot in the team of the year.

While yet to make his NRL debut, Marschke brings with him a wealth of experience from his time in reserve grade, where he has plied his trade for the Newtown Jets, Canterbury Bulldogs, and most recently, the Bears.

With the reported signing of Marschke, it is clear that the Dragons are determined to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season, mitigating the potential loss of Volkman.
