Dragons' stunning 25-year triumph over Melbourne Storm shakes up the competition

The Melbourne Storm were sailing towards the minor premiership, but a jaw-dropping 25-year drought-breaking victory has put them on notice.

According to reports from news.com.au, the St George Illawarra Dragons pulled off a massive upset against the ladder-leading Melbourne Storm, holding on for an 18-16 win, marking their first victory in Melbourne since 1999.

This win was a long time coming, with 9100 days and 25 seasons passing before the Dragons could finally overcome the Storm in front of a stunned crowd of 18,103 at AAMI Park.

It was a momentous occasion as the Dragons ended their 16-game losing streak, allowing them to belt out their victory song in the heart of Victoria.

Jaydn Su'A's exceptional two-try performance played a crucial role in sealing the historic win.

Not only does this triumph hold significant historical value for the Dragons, but it also propels them into the top eight for the 2024 season, with a record of 10-9.

On the other hand, the Storm now must buckle down to secure the minor premiership, as the defending champions, the Penrith Panthers, are hot on their trail.

The Dragons' win has stirred up the competition, reminding everyone that in Rugby League, anything can happen on any given day.
