The Dolphins are facing another setback as hooker Jeremy Marshall-King is sidelined for up to four months due to a knee injury sustained at his home.
His absence until mid to late April is a significant blow for the Dolphins, who are striving for their first finals appearance.
Last season, the team dealt with injuries to key players, including forwards Tom Flegler (shoulder), Tom Gilbert (pectoral/shoulder), Daniel Saifiti (shoulder), and Max Plath (knee), many of whom missed most or all of the season.
Fortunately, Flegler, Gilbert, and Saifiti are expected to return for round one, with Plath aiming for a comeback by round three.
Dolphins' head of performance, Jeremy Hickmans, reported that Marshall-King's surgery went well, and he will begin his rehabilitation process.
"The timeline will be dependent on how that rehabilitation progresses, and he is certainly going to miss some games at the start of the season," said Hickmans. "But if all goes well, he will be a chance to return somewhere around the first bye in round six."
