'Dolphins reel in lucky charm Kaufusi for playoffs'

‘Better luck getting Powerball’: Felise Kaufusi free to play in eighth place playoff

The Dolphins have received a real stroke of luck ahead of their crucial clash with the Knights, as Felise Kaufusi's successful judiciary appeal means he will be free to play in the eighth-place playoff.

Kaufusi, known as the Dolphins' hit man, was facing a grade two dangerous contact charge for a tackle on Broncos halfback Adam Reynolds that saw him leave the field for a head injury assessment.

The fiery exchange between the two players on the sideline added some extra spice to the situation, but Kaufusi's plea and subsequent downgrade of the charge have given the Dolphins a much-needed boost.

The seasoned back-rower didn't take any chances, making the trip down to Sydney with assistant coach Kristian Woolf for the hearing.

After a swift deliberation by the panel, it was deemed that the force of the tackle was low, the risk of injury was minimal, and Reynolds had ample time to defend himself.

With his ban overturned, Kaufusi is now clear to take the field against the Knights.

Although he will have to part ways with $1800 as a fine, it's a small price to pay compared to missing out on three crucial matches.

The Dolphins will be looking to capitalize on this fortunate turn of events as they gear up for their season-defining showdown.
