Ray Stone plans to return to bricklaying or labouring after retiring, while he considers what to do next.
"I'm keen to get back on the tools - bricklaying or just labouring," he said.
"I like the hard, simple stuff. Keep it simple and don't have to think."
Boxing is another possibility for the former Parramatta Eels and Dolphins forward, who competed in amateur bouts at Parramatta.
"I had a couple of amateur boxing matches when I was at Parramatta," Stone said.
"That was probably about five years ago now, that was when I started getting really into it.
"I've done a little bit of boxing since, but not too much.
"Last year I didn't do any because my shoulders were so busted, and this year I've just been focusing on getting through the season."
Stone retired at 29 after 113 NRL games, ending his career with the Dolphins at the close of the 2026 season.
Injuries and a wish to spend more time with his young family contributed to his decision to leave the game.
