The Redcliffe Dolphins will be honouring their historic 1965 premiership victory with a special edition jersey during their first home game of the year against the Wests Tigers at Kayo Stadium.

This heritage jersey commemorates 60 years since the Dolphins' first Brisbane Rugby League premiership win in 1965, where they defeated the Fortitude Valley Diehards 15-2 in front of 25,309 fans at Lang Park.

Members of the 1965 Redcliffe side, Arthur Beetson and Kevin Yow Yeh, played important roles in the team's success and in shaping the Dolphins' legacy.

Yow Yeh was named the Dolphins' Player of the Year in his first season with the club in 1964, while Beetson switched from the centres to the forwards and was named Player of the Year in 1965.

In the grand final, Yow Yeh scored a double, with one of his tries set up by five-eighth John Treeby.

The 1965 premiership victory not only marked a significant moment in the Dolphins' history but also played a part in the club's evolution into the NRL six decades later.

The jersey worn to honour this milestone reflects the team's heritage and the achievements of that memorable season.

This tribute serves as a reminder of the Dolphins' proud history and the contributions of players like Beetson and Yow Yeh to the club's success.

By celebrating this important chapter in the Dolphins' story, the team pays homage to the foundations on which their NRL legacy was built.
