In 2025, the Dolphins NRL team continues to support the health of Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through their partnership with the Deadly Choices program, an initiative by the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH).
This program empowers individuals to improve their health by promoting nutritious eating, physical activity, and smoking cessation, while also encouraging connections with local Community Controlled Health Services (CCHS) for regular health check-ups.
A key component of Deadly Choices is the 715 Health Check, specifically designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to identify health risks.
The Dolphins' collaboration boosts the initiative within the Moreton Bay and North Brisbane areas, particularly through the Moreton Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (Moreton ATSICHS).
In 2025, the partnership is set to introduce new Deadly Choices x Dolphins health check shirts, featuring three exclusive designs to motivate community members to complete their 715 Health Checks.
As an incentive, participants receive a free shirt upon completion.
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, a Dolphins player and proud Saibai Island man from Cairns, highlighted the significance of these health check shirts in promoting health awareness and participation within the community.
By combining the influence of sports with health initiatives, the Dolphins and Deadly Choices are making a meaningful impact on community health outcomes.
