The Dolphins have achieved a significant milestone in free agency by securing the talents of 17-year-old forward Brian Pouniu for beyond this season.
As reported by zerotackle.com and Wide World of Sports, Pouniu, renowned as one of Australia's most promising young forwards, opted to stay with the Dolphins despite substantial interest from rival clubs.
Identified as a key player in Kristian Woolfe's first-grade team, Pouniu is also a member of the Queensland Maroons' U19 emerging squad.
His new contract will integrate him into the Dolphins' top 30 squad, paving the way for a possible NRL debut in the coming years.
Although Pouniu's primary position is second-row, he possesses the versatility and football intelligence to play as a centre or lock.
At just 17, Pouniu has already led the Dolphins to a notable 24-10 grand final victory against the Townsville Blackhawks in the under-16 Cyril Connell Cup, showcasing his leadership abilities and talent on the field.
