In a pivotal match against the Eels, the Dolphins showcased resilience and defensive tenacity that had been lacking in previous games, securing a crucial victory in Sydney.
Following a series of honesty sessions, the team strengthened its resolve and regained focus on their defensive strategies after conceding 76 points in their last two outings against the Raiders and Roosters.
The Dolphins had previously performed better, allowing only 64 points from rounds 4 to 7.
Despite facing significant challenges, including an 8-1 penalty count against them, the Dolphins managed to maintain their composure and fend off a fierce late push from the Eels.
"We spoke about it all week and had a few honesty sessions," said five-eighth Kodi Nikorima.
He emphasized the importance of addressing the team's recent performance, noting, "We spoke about the last two weeks before this game and that the defence wasn't where it needed to be.
We had to talk about it because there was no point beating around the bush.
We leaked 76 points in the last two weeks, and we'd actually leaked fewer points in the previous month."
The Dolphins' revival serves as a testament to their commitment to improvement and teamwork, demonstrating that accountability and communication can lead to better outcomes on the field.
